That is a question that you should take to your Physician, or go to the Health Food store and ask for their recommendation. There are also Nutritionist that should be able to direct you, to what may be available for you instead the Iodine. I am just trying to be helpful, and wonder if you are aware that there is a white
iodine, and that perhaps you may be able to tolerate, better that the regular brown iodine. I wish you the best, by finding a specialist that treats Thyroid disease

I can only guess she has rheumatoid arthritis which is an auto immune disease.
There are things you can do to help ease the symptoms of RA.
    * Find a balance between exercise and rest. You need to keep active to prevent your joints from becoming weak and stiff but don't try to do too much. Swimming is an excellent activity because it strengthens your muscles and joints without putting any strain on them. A physiotherapist can give you information and advice.
    * Try to lose excess weight as this will reduce the pressure on your joints.
    * Try and find ways of making everyday tasks easier and there may be specialist equipment that can help
    * Try to eat a healthy, balanced diet and cut down on saturated fats.
    * A hot water bottle may help if your joints feel stiff and painful; try an ice pack if they are hot and irritated.

There are some suggested home remedies (which your mother may or may not like!)...

My mother swore by a fresh garlic and honey mixture which tasted dreadful, her arthritis did improve, but was it coincidence?
Your mom will be pleased you are trying to help her.
Good luck.

I have had arthritis for over 60 years, Does she have Rheumatoid or Osteo Arthritis? There are meds for each. If Osteo, Glucosamine-Condriotin with MSM has help me a lot - must take every day and it takes several weeks to see an improvement.

My father-in-law told me to take niacinamide. My left hand used to hurt so bad I would cry and my husband would forget and try to hold my hand and the pain was terrible. After I took the niacinamide, it was a day or so and the pain stopped. Your mom can buy this anywhere supplements are sold. As for me, I take one capsule a day and that does it.

depends on where you live, but overall its EXTREMELY unlikely... for instance in America there is a .05 percent chance that he could have it... so yeah....

I had the same thing happen to me.. It could be the articular cartilage was injured, but even if cartilage heals slowly it should of healed in a year!
But maybe it did not, or maybe you have knee bursitis.. You should see a Doctor..
By the way.. I had a one month break from running and the pain went away, so might be a different case for me.. Yours sounds more serious.
