Physio is physiotherapy. It is treatment of disorders through physical means, such as massage, manipulation, ultrasound, heat treatment and breathing exercises. Physiotherapy is often necessary after an injury, a major operation, or for arthritis. (Children with learning difficulties have also been found to respond to activities which teach balance and co-ordination.) Hope this helps.

Physiotherapy covers all sorts of things – mainly physical movement either passively (ie the physio will move your body or manipulate or massage the area of injury) or active (ie you will be given a routine of exercise to follow to strengthen or repair the injured area).

.Physio is short for physiotherapy. There are a couple of informative website links given here specifically for sports physiotherapy which your cousin may find useful.
