Depends where the arthritis is, like any body restriction.
There are all kinds of gadgets on the market
for Arthritic complaints,tin openers,bottle
openers,stool for sitting, bending,gadgets
for getting up,also toilet aids, stair lifts,
the items go on and on but you don’t
say what you need.Go on disability
sites for more info.
agreed depends where the arthritis is as well as which form/s of arthritis? Most have severy trouble doing taske with hands and fingers, I have all 3 types eosteoprosos eosteoarthritis and rhumotoid arthritis I find i cannot write, knit or do anything with my fingers and hands for long I cannot lift or even hold a saucepan I cannot bend up and doun without getting stuck with severe physical pain but also locked hip joints I cannot sit with my legs bent under me any longer one of my fav posies I cannot curl my body up I have to be careful not to knock or bump myself about as my bones break brues and damage easily walking for any length of time is very ardous and painful as well as every task physically is extremely exhausting I have to be careful not to stoop so painfully use walking aids that force me to tray straight so I do not develope the typical stoop so my doc tells me not yet anyway in Rgumatoid arthritis i also have many internal organs effected as well so need to have carefully planned diet for this and the constant medical testing for kydneys spleen liver pancreas etc. What I do to help manage is keep myself as physically active as my body will allowme the old adage still goes use it or loose it I use a extended hadled reacher/grabber with a magnetic gripper and torch I use memory foam pillows and matress found these the best of all other products I use arthritic handled aided cutlery as well as cups I do not use plates to eat my meals from unless they have a deep lip as the limited movement from fingers wrists hands arms shouldiers causes me to drop everything eveb in trying to put food into my mouth if i am out at caf or resturant i explain my arthritis issues and ask if i can have my food in a large shallow bowl most comply of have plaes with deep lips give you some type of idea my friend
I have osteo-arthritis in both hands and one of the most difficult task for me is doing up shirt buttons.
I have arthritis in my neck and shoulders and find looking over my shoulder, when reversing the car, very difficult. I am having physio at the moment but it doesn’t seem to be helping much. I take pain killers as well.
Sometimes my knee bothers me. Not always. But I walk anyway, Sometimes my back bothers me, but I try to do what I know I should. And sometimes my thumb bothers me, but I do my crocheting anyway.
I am not going to stop doing the things I need to do just because of some pain. If the pain is severe enough, I will take Aleve for it. But, to give up my activities would mean letting myself get all crippled up. Not giving in to that.
All of them are painful. Any kind of movement. I take aspirin and just do what I gotta do. If any one joint hurts really bad I use a heating pad.
Getting out of a low, small car.
Mine started at age 54. Osteoarthritis. I was a full time cashier and go home in pain and tears. My knees and feet hurt horrible. Then it got in one hip. I later learned any area that may of been injured earlier can develop arthritis. I had a fall down cement stair year before and rolled like a log on lower body. I tried my best to keep working, I did get time off with disability pay and then found out I had bone damage in knee severely and partly in other. Also mild in hip. I was taken off Celebrex after its bad publicity and started muscle relaxers Skelaxin, for cramping and also Ibuprofen..Heat/Ice packs, so on. I also took physical therapy till insurance ran out. I do take fish oil and the otherr joint nutrtion supplements. I also take calsium but not every day. Its been 2 years and I just got Medicare started after qualifying for Soc Sec disability. This week took cortzone shot in worst knee. and fell better till on legs to long. You have to learn how to use and keep up with a cane. Watch curbs and avoid stairs. Don’t lift things to heavy to avoid strain and possible losing balance.I am unable to shop at grocery more then a few items without a helper. Sometimes its hard to reach items on shelf and just the drive to and from can make me ache. I no longer walk my dog as am afraid I will fall. My brain is always ahead of my body and it is discouraging at times. I have a cushion that vibrates and heats in my recliner. I also use heat pad where ever needed time to time. I got back to gym and use the pool and bubble hot tub. I am unable to do the machines like before. I probable get knee replacement early 2009. Just sitting her to longs gets me cramped upbut its a good site. Thanks for this question.
