I swear to god we’re separated at birth
I had that 2 years after I had my little boy
After the operation to remove the infection I was told the chances of it returning were pretty slim unless I sustained an injury to the hip
Don’t know why but so far mines been ok
I do have days though where I wake up in the morning and it’s really sore and stiff still

Like you I hope it doesn’t come back
    the pain was bloody horrendous

From what I was taught when I did my placement on a Osteo ward, the chances of the actual infection returning is very small, however there is some risk that patients will develop osteoarthritis later on, I would be inclined to go see your GP. I think a little stiffness and aching would be common afterwards for awhile.

Chances of septic arthritis returning are pretty slim unless you put yourself at risk for it (avoid corticosteroid injections). Once its treated, usually with drainage and antibiotics, recovery is good. However, youre more at risk for developing osteoarthritis (which may be why you still get some aching) due to the septic arthritis, try to maintain as much motion in that hip as you can to prevent any pain from osteoarthritis. Low impact exercises would be good such as biking and the elliptical machine but even walking is good. Call youre doctor if you start to feel severe pain in that joint that gets worse when you walk (especially in the groin area).
