ive been struggling with depression since 2000 ii went to a councillor that the doctor advised me to go to and it did nothing what so ever. dont start taking anti depressants coz you only get addicted to them and you will get addicted to them. try talking to friends or family and keep busy sometimes having time off work isnt the best answer. try getting away for a week or so as well a rest does the world of good

I assume you’re on medication cos it helps with clinical depression ie.stops all the physical symptoms that eventually happen.
Rehab or centres are not available unless you get to the point of disassociation (when you don’t recognise yourself in the mirror,) then they put you in a psychiatric ward, well unless you have heaps of cash and go to a private centre there is no help in UK any more.Go back to your doctor and maybe he will change medication as everybody reacts different to different tablets. Good luck.

When you see your doctor ask him/her if there is a mental health center or psychiatric hospital you can check into for a little time if you really need and want to check yourself in to a place to get away.

Your first step is seeing your family physician who can refer you to a psychologist.
I have depression and social anxiety, I feel a lot like you. My doctor gave me Cymbalta which has done wonders for the depression and at much higher doses can also help with your anxiety. I also take an anti-anxiety medicine. I still have tons of issues, but I’m going to start therapy next week to help deal with them. Just a word of caution, Cymbalta is crazy expensive. If you don’t have insurance, it’ll set you back $120 a month. It’s worth every penny. Honestly, I’d gladly cut off my cell phone, my cable and internet just to get this medicine.
You can do it, just be open and honest with your doctor.

Please don’t think I’m being simplistic because I know the problem is very specific to you, but make sure you are still giving yourself the opportunity to have positive experiences, even if things aren’t like they used to be. Maybe you won’t get as much pleasure from things you used to enjoy (you could even try new things) but you can still have rewarding experiences. So please don’t give up trying things.
