Hey I know of the two BEST treatments for acne. (1) Roaccutane : but I wouldn’t advise you to use it because it has a side effect on woman. (2) The pill! This is the contraceptive yes. It is superb and I’ve seen many people improve drastically using this medicine.
ask your doctor to refer you to a dermatologist…… there are different antibiotic treatments you could try (Minocycline, Tertracycline, Erythromycin, etc.) or you may need ROACCTUTANE…… only prescribed by hospital doctors, but the drug is extremely effective. I’ve been on it 5 times, for Rosacea (same treatment as acne)
hi when i was in my teens (a long time ago) i reduced my acne by washing my face with soap and water whenever i washed my hands after going to the bathroom it really helped although the results wern’t instant. hope this helps
My son suffered with Acne like yourself and he was prescribed Antibiotics. He was on these for 6 months, but the Dr did say that when he stopped taking them the Acne may come back,in which case he would have to go back on them.It may be that you need to take them for a longer period of time.Im sure your Dr will sort it for you.
Good Luck.

I had acne, but then I noticed that when I went on the contraceptive pill, it cleared up really fast. It’s because it alters hormones, and your sebaceous gland does not produce so much oil, causing spots. You don’t necessarily have to go on the pill as a form of contraceptive, so maybe it’s worth asking your doctor about as a treatment for the acne.
A good lotion is Dalacin T topical lotion, if you’re not so keen on tablets. x =D
hello. i am 25 and have suffered acne for years, but i get cystic acne as well as the whiteheads and blacheads etc the thing with antibiotics is that they only work whilst you are on them, as soon as you go off them the bacteria starts rto develop at the same rate as it did before the antibiotics reduced its producation. the only thing left for you and me is roaccutane or its also called accutane or isotetinine, you have to be on the pill at the same time coz it causes severd birth defects on an unborn baby, if you become pregnant whilst on it you have to have an abortion,. Doctors can’t prescribe roaccutane only a dermotologist can so you will need to be referred from your doctor to the hospital. ask to see one, i did. also roaccutane is a very serios drug, it is metabloised through your liver and causes nosebleeds, dry flaky skin and sometimes deprression, you need to have montly blood tests and pregnancy tests every month to see if your liver is being damagerd or if your cholestoral ir rising as it causes your chlosteral to rise too. but sayign alll this is is the last resort treatments and usually works amaziknlgy, its not like antibiotics that only reduce the bacteria on you skin…accutane actually reduces the pore size and oil production in your skin….but it can cause slight hair loss too…….a usaul course is between 4-6 months and you have to decide of it is the worth the side effects on your body to get clear skin.for me it is.as i will be 26 in march and have had enough, i am not going to grow out of my acne, if you are young or under like 22-23 ish then i would wait, unless your acne is so severe it ruins your life. all my best to you.
i was on doxycycline and it broke me out once i stopped using it. however, it did work, you just have to drink massive amounts of water with it!
antibiotics aren’t all that cool…
i use [pro]biotics. you can find it in a health food store. it’s a liquid drink that taste like yogurt called acidopholis! it comes in pill form also…and there’s no use in telling your doctor about this b/c it’s natural and we all know that doctors like to prescribe patent medicine that masks symptoms but don’t cure them! it’s all about the money for them! and it’s sad….
if i were you, i’d stop the antibiotics period! drink water! try some natural alternatives…
if you have to have the antibiotic then go with doxy. it does work, however, if you don’t drink the water and take it consistently , it will break you out and give you stomach pain as well as nausea…the nausea is what made me stop thus causing me to break-out! you can also take the pro with the anti to have a balance if your body adapts.
The best s to wash your face with mild soap more often as often as you see oil in your face then abstain from touching your face with unwashed hands. Your hand has the bacteria that will reinfect your ****** skin. Acne are skin infections that why it is treated with antibiotics.
Roaccutane. It isn´t an antibiotic. It is isotretinoin, which is a very high concentration of vitamin A.
The side effects are a bit of a pain: dry eyes, flaking skin and very very very dry lips. You can low the dose a bit and use loads of vaseline for your lips + a good light mosturiser. It is worth the pain and your acne will dissapear forever.
You will need to be on the pill or have a coil fitted to avoid pregnancy. This is ´cause if you get pregnant the baby will surely come with problems, so a termination will be required.
I know exactly how you feel. Many people don’t understand
how much it can affect your life. The things that seemed to have worked for me are the contraceptive pill called Dianette but be patient as it can take a couple of months to notice. Also avoid touching your skin and definately don’t pick! I also use an over the counter product called Oxy 10 which is quite harsh but works for me. I have tried antibiotics but they never really worked for me. A friend of mine used roaccutane and she has had perfect skin ever since!
Two of my three children have/had acne and my duaghter is now on the pill (aged 21) and this has helped her somewhat add to this the healthier eating plan. My son also has severe acne and now he is 23 it has nearly faded altogether.
Glad you are going to the doctor as medication is available in lotion or pills (not nesecarily contracpetion).
The antibiotic is not working for you because your skin is still providing the environment needed for the P. acnes bacteria to proliferate.
From the answers above, you’ll probably have read about a drug called Accutane. If you still don’t know what it is, go google it. It is almost a miracle drug for many acne sufferers – but it comes with a price as well.
Go to the dermatologist with your parents. Side effects of Accutane are many. It affects most, if not all. I don’t know what is your acne condition so I can’t really evaluate your case. Usually, if you have mild to moderate acne, low doses of Accutane is effective enough yet not strong enough to give you all the side effects. You will need to have a discussion between you, your parents and your doctor. Voice out your own opinion – it’s very important.
my son has been using pine tar soap for a over two months now. it has really helped clear it up. he had it really bad. huge sores on his face, back and some on his arms and chest. you can get it thru your pharmacy. it costs about $4 a bar and a bar can last 3-4 wks. His skin is 100 percent clearer now
there are quite a few natural tablets in health stores and chemists that we recommend at work. also you could ask your doctor for a low dosage steroid cream aswell to help the tablets work better
To go to the doctor and take antibiotic seems not like a long term solution. I have had acne problems myself so I know that acne is a tremendously embarrassing and burdensome problem but there are ways to actually cure acne naturally without meeting any medical doctor. As long as you use antibiotics you have only hidden the problem but not solved it.
Natural remedies can be as effective if not more than medications and i have learned that there is just a matter right nutritional balance of your body and proper skin care to get rid of you acne.
Easy things you can do to cure your Acne.
1) Apply a honey mask to your face once or twice a week.
2) Wash twice a day with acne soap, use a sulfur based soap for acne.
3) Do not scrub or over wash your skin. That will only make your skin produce more sebum that will lead to more acne.
4) Avoid using makeup if you dont have to.
Acne can be a sign that there is something wrong inside your body and not the outside so as tempting as it may be, do not squeeze, scratch, rub or touch your pimples or blackheads.
What you can eat to cure your acne.
Eat carrots it actually prevents acne.
Take a chromium supplement once a day to prevent future breakouts.
Eat foods rich in zinc.
Drink 8 glasses of water to help your body get rid of all the waste.
Do you stop taking your antibiotics when you start to feel that your skin is clearing up? You really shouldn’t, because the bacteria can build up a resistance (aka.. antibiotic resistance, i’m sure we’ve all heard of this), thus the bacteria can come back stronger than ever.
Of course, other treatments to consider are other creams/gels prescribed by the doctor. I’m guessing they’re not too effective if you are taking pills for them already. Have you tried minocycline? It’s another antibiotic. Also Vitamin A tetrenoin gel is good – it helps with pimples AND softens the pigments on your face (which is good if you have some acne scars). It dries your face a lot though. This is actually related to the vitamin A, which you must have heard of – Accutane. (This is why people actually say ‘carrots are good for you if you have acne’ because carrots HAVE vitamin A. Just a little aside!)
I wouldn’t recommend this unless your dermatologist does – in fact you HAVE to be sent to a dermatologist to get this drug prescribed (depending on where you live, this drug may be regulated differently though). This is the best acne treatment there is – and can be the worst because of the side effects. Talk to your dermatologist to see what is right for you.
This link is to a brochure written by my dermatologist. It has a lot of wonderful tips for acne. A person never outgrows the tendency for acne. Dr. Alkek prescribed for me, Minocycline, a skin cleanser that he developed for his acne patients, a topical antibiotic and benzoyl peroxide. He later added Retin-A. (I still use his cleanser and the Retin-A) Then I went into his office every 2 weeks for glycolic acid treatments and the nurse would perform acne surgery when needed. I only needed to be on the antibiotics a fairly short period of time.
My insurance did not cover the glycolic acid treatments but my mom said it was the best thing we could have done for my face. I’m not sure if acne is even covered by insurance anymore at all. Oh, make sure to download the brochure, it has his list of non-comedogenic ingredients listed. Cut it out and put it in your purse. Anytime, you want to buy a new make-up, you can refer to that list of ingredients to stay away from. Here is the link.
First, I understand where you’re coming from. I grew up with really bad acne, not only on my face but on my body as well. It was embarrassing and I tried everything including cleansers, creams, prescription medications, antibiotics, over the counter medications, and even shots from the dermatologist (ouch!) to get rid of it. I never did until many years later when it didn’t matter as much.
Here’s what I found out after lots of research and trial and error, the hard way.
It’s not a topical issue, it doesn’t help much to treat it from the outside, it’s an inside job. When you treat it from the outside it’s like treating the symptoms, not the cause. You’ll hear from many people that’s not the case, and it’s usually because they want you to buy their creams or lotions, and keep buying them month after month after month (or they haven’t experienced the truth). Of course, when you stop using it (as you’ve experienced) your blemishes come back… because you’re not treating the cause. And the costs for all of these routines/drugs add up month after month.
If you think about it logically, it makes sense. Why do we get rashes, breakouts, or other skin irritations? It’s usually because of something we ate, something that wasn’t meant to be put on our skin, something that caused us stress and our body reacts to all those things.
Bottom line is that most every cause of acne is related to what you eat, how you feel and how you take care of yourself. Your skin is a reflection of what’s on the inside. We have lots of toxins building up in our systems and they have to be cleaned out on the inside and that will reflect on the outside. The blemishes, rashes, acne, etc are indications that your body is reacting to what you’re eating, to stress, toxins, chemicals, hormones… literally a great number of things.
Basically what I did in a nutshell was clean out my system by taking out the processed and junk foods, and added as much fresh fruits and vegetables to my diet as possible. This part is key. I also started drinking a lot of water daily, starting with 3 or 4 glasses when I wake up (adding a squeeze of fresh lemon at times). I also got more active every day, walking, running, sports, jumping, whatever, just getting active. It not only gave me more energy, it help flush out the toxins that were clogging up my system.
I followed the regimen in these two books I found:
and
I took the ideas from both and put together what worked for me the best. I decided instead of doing a ‘one time’ treatment as was outlined in the first book and made it into a lifestyle where acne would never be an issue for me again. Literally in a few weeks all my blemishes disappeared and haven’t returned for over 3 years now. I don’t use anything on my face other than water and a natural bath get once in a while. My normally oily and blemished skin turned smooth, soft and clear and I regularly get positive comments on how my skin looks.
This also worked for everyone I’ve recommended it to and in particular my neighbors 14 year old daughter, her face cleared up in about 3.5 weeks (she was eating poorly) and was ecstatic over the results.
It is a lesson to ponder. Never make use of certain product that you are not sure of the results. You should have something recommended by your dermatologist or doctor. It is a fact that severe ACNE problems torment many teens as well as older men and women. Don’t wait to become one of them! There are many treatments available, some of which may come as a surprise to you. If you have been wanting to research different treatment options, I believe offers what will work best for you.
I had acne for YEARS and went through tons of treatments. Birth control pills definitely helped. I never liked taking anti-biotics long term, so I always just used topical prescriptions. My dermatologist switched me to Benzaclin, which is benzoyl peroxide and topical erythomycin (an anti-biotic). The stuff worked great and I didn’t have itchy, flaky skin. Definitely ask your doctor about it.
Skin treatments will not work they are just a temporary fix for a much deeper problem honey. You need to go to the doctor and get on birth control pills. This is a result of excess androgens (male hormones) in your body. I had the same problem (i’m 19) and I tried every product known to man including proactive which only made my skin worse. Since going on birth control pills my skin has been dramatically changed for the better.
I totally understand where you’re coming from. I’m on Doxycyline right now and it works great. The problem is my acne always comes back when i get off the pill. Drink lot’s of water and keep your hands off your face. Your hands are the leading cause of dirt that causes clogged pores on your face. Talk to your doctor about treatments that will work for you. If they don’t have any suggestions, ask to be seen by a dermitologist. And don’t worry, you will notice your acne more than everyone else. I know I notice my own. It is the first thing I see. You learn to get through it though, in the end, you will be beautiful. It doesn’t matter what you look like, as long as you have a great personality and love yourself. I hope this helps. Good luck! Remember, to tell yourself you’re are beautiful inside and out no matter what anyone says.
the 1st thing that you can try is an over-the-counter cream of gel formulated with benzoyl peroxide. It works by mildly irritating the skin, which encourages dying skin cells to flake off. This helps reopen clogged pores. In addition, benzoyl peroxide also kills the bacteria that infect clogged pores.
Besides that, you may also try tea-tree oil on blemishes to discourage infection and speed healing. You should dab a drop of tea-tree oil on your acne three times a day, for effective healing.
