Comments on: do you think that a video game rehab centre is necassary?

I am addicted to computer games If I go more than 48 hours without gaming then i turn really grumpy. It makes no difference whether I am playing the latest Grand Theft Auto or Pong as long as I play a computer game to stop the withdrawn symptoms I tend to be fine. A 3 hour non stop gaming session is routine but they can last a lot longer. I dont think my mum is jealous of my ps2 as it tends to get more of my attention than she does. A rehab centre might be a good idea to get rid of the addiction as whenever I am away from home for a couple of nights I have to take a stand in with me to stop the withdrawl symptoms.

It’s kids escaping reality… even adults do it now to free the mind of worries.
At least the kids aren’t out drinking and nicking stuff!

Kids just escaping from reality. I have parents (and many on their generation) that think games are all ‘mindrot.’ Well, it’s mindrot if you keep doing the same thing every day without using much thought and have little to no interaction.

I wonder what this would be like if people were addicted to movies, board games, or other activities that can be (mmorpgs excluded) non-social.

2 hours a day? pff. I was playing more than that when I was 8. only people who need rehab are dead beat losers who can’t find anything else to do. fuc*king emos

Depends on the state of the computer room……

If there is a refirgerator next to thte computer desk and the chair is also a toilet then chances are a Rehab Center might be a good thing to check out!

YES. but seriously, 2 hours a day? id love a rehab clinic to get me down to that level. But yeah, a rehab clinic is good. i spend between 4-8 hours a day playing video games, and its started to affect my mind. Problem is, i cant stop. So yeah, rehab centre is a good thing. though maybe only for extreme cases like mine.
